Nowitzki Knocks Out Landry’s Teeth With Elbow [Video]

December 19, 2009 – Dr. Anklesnap

In last nights game between the Dallas Mavericks and the Houston Rockets, I saw one of the strangest collision/injuries i’ve seen in a while. Sure players get their teeth knocked out from time to time, that’s why so many wear mouth guards. But to have a guy, wearing a mouth guard take an elbow in the mouth so hard that it knocks his mouth guard off, and his teeth get embedded right in the elbow of the opposition? That’s downright weird.

On the play Mavericks star Dirk Nowitzki drives the lane, and accidentally elbows Carl Landry of the Rockets in the mouth. Nowitzki knocked three of his front teeth out, and 2 of which were embedded in his elbow causing significant lacerations. And to boot, Landry was actually wearing his mouth guard at the time. Both players needed to leave the game to seek medical attention.

After watching the video, ask yourself this….How did this NOT happen to Karl Malone in all the years he was throwin’ ‘bows and rearranging defenders teeth?

(Thanks to the clutchness of ClutchFans.com for getting the video up)
