Richard Jefferson of the San Antonio Spurs booked an appearance on the world famous Howard Stern Show on Sirius Satellite Radio, to set it straight about recent reports of his backing out at the last minute of getting married to former Nets dancer, Kesha Ni’Cole Nichols. Jefferson met with the media giant to get out his side of the story and clear up some erroneous details about the alleged event. Jefferson is no stranger to the Stern Show since he has been a guest a number of times in the past.
Numerous media outlets published the now well known story of Jefferson deciding to reportedly forgoe his lavish $2 million dollar wedding and leaving his bride to be at the altar. Jefferson reported to Stern that while the bride and groom didn’t officially marry on Saturday, family and friends were notified of their change in nuptials almost a week before the supposed event. Jefferson apparently emailed and met in person with Nichols on Tuesday to discuss not having a wedding. Jefferson also stated that with such an extravagant event, it was very difficult to notify everyone, thus, a few handful of guests arrived for the ceremony. Stern also got Jefferson to admit that even though they were never married, a six figure monetary settlement was given to Nichols. Richard also stated that he chose to go on Stern’s radio show to reach the most people and stop the rampant rumors about his mistreatment of his former wife concerning their wedding.
Jefferson recently made news by being traded from the Milwaukee Bucks, in a 4 player deal, to the San Antonio Spurs for Kurt Thomas, Bruce Bowen, and Fabricio Oberto. Richard averaged 19.6 points, 4.6 rebounds, 2.4 assists, while shooting 40% on threes. Jefferson is known as one of the best all-around players in the league since he has been one of the better defenders at his position as well. The addition of Jefferson and Antonio McDyess to the Spurs gives them as good a shot as any NBA team at winning their 5th title in the last 11 years.
