When the Jordan IV was chosen for as the Air Jordan for the 2011 Doernbecher collection, that meant that 2012 would see a return of the fourth signature sneaker of Michael Jordan.

Fans of Spike Lee Joints will remember this as the sneaker worn by Buggin Out from Do the Right Thing in the scene where they were scuffed by a passer-by (wearing a Larry Bird shirt) from my top 10 basketball sneaker moments in movies.

Despite the original Cement Grey being replaced with the darker Tech Grey color, these will still be called the Cement IV and will sell out on release day all the same.

Aside from coloring different panels of the sneaker, other customization options not seen on other sneaker creating programs are your choice of number on the toebox and NBA team logo for behind the Geofit ankle collar. So far the only two materials available are nubuck and a patent-like material for the collar.

Until now the only other adidas basketball sneaker available for customization through miadidas has been the Crazy Light.

The Air Flight One made my list of Penny Hardaway’s top 10 sneakers and is set to return in a big way this year. At first glance the differences between this and its higher counterpart might seem minute and with good reason because the Crazy Light Low is almost identical to its higher counterpart that debuted during the ’10 – ’11 NBA Playoffs last year. The adiZero Crazy Light Low by adidas is almost half an ounce lighter than the original but still is constructed with the Sprintframe for support and Sprintweb technology to make the shoe so light and breathable.

Among the other contents of Fisher’s bag are his autobiography (which he is currently transcribing onto paperback), shorts, headphones, iPad, & two cell phones.

School colors and the Maryland state flag are the inspiration for these the three sneakers in the set. This Bloodline is mostly black with a solid red sole and yellow laces. The box print from the Maryland state flag can be seen on parts of the upper as well as on the entire strap with Williams’ signature. The Juke features the same checkered pattern along the heelstrap. Just like the Bloodline, a black upper with solid red soles and yellow CompFit sleeve wrapped with a monochromatic design and made with Under Armour’s HeatGear technology are all features seen on this special edition of Kemba Walker’s signature sneaker.

While the Bloodline and Juke were given to members of the U of M basketball team, the Funk was presented to Coach Williams in a special display box. The sneakers were presented to him during the Maryland/Duke game; the same night that the Maryland Comcast Center was renamed the Coach Williams Center.

Under Armour Bloodline – ‘D Will Rowley Park PE’

For Derrick Williams, who went 2nd in the 2011 NBA Draft, we see that on this pair he is treated to a custom Micro G Bloodline in the Rowley Park colorway. Instead of the California route normally seen on the strap, this rare SMU features “D Will” embossed in the same green Rowley Park green that wraps the sneaker. As a member of the Timberwolves, the tree pattern seen on the strap of this pair fits right at home in the woodland state of Minnesota.

Under Armour Bloodline – ‘Da Bronx Triple Black PE’

Just as we saw with the last Rose model, different colorways will get a different material to wrap the upper. Whether adidas consciously chose to make the toebox out of crease-resistant materials or if it is a happy coincidence is a mystery to me, all I know is that anyone who played ball in the ‘Bred’ adiRose 2 will be able to tell you how their pair looks just as fresh as a deadstock pair.

GeoFit padding is seen on the collar of the adiRose 2.5 where your ankles would sit while wearing these. If you were one of the few who got to see Derrick Rose’s early review of this sneaker before it was taken down will remember the “ankle pillows” the MVP made reference to.

The responsive low-profile sole seen on the adiZero Rose 2 and Crazy Light makes another appearance on the new Derrick Rose sneaker.

Even though three sneakers are pictured here, the Bred and ‘Aluminum’ colorways will be the first two pairs of the adiZero Rose 2.5 to be given a barcode with the ‘Scarlet’ pair hitting stores shortly after. No official word yet on the ‘Cement’ adiRose 2.5 seen in the new NBA 2K12.

Looking at these and the supposed All-Star Zoom Kobe VII, you can tell that this year Nike isn’t just going with the traditional east-wears-blue/west-wears-red we’re used to seeing.

Reported by certain sneaker media outlets as some sort of ‘Six Rings’ pack, history tells us that this nickname doesn’t make sense. While wearing the Jordan XI, Michael along with the ’95-’96 Bulls captured their fourth title; a fact honored by the four trophies seen on the gold foil graphic on the left tongue of both pairs.

The pairs on display here come complements of actor and OG sneaker connoisseur Chi McBride and included a personalized message on the inside cover of one of the boxes from Jordan XI designer Tinker Hatfield.

Already given “Big Bang” or “Galaxy” as a nickname, this edition will actually be the All-Star version of the Kobe VII by Nike. The known features on this sneaker read like a shopping list with a celestial design seen on the outside and sockliner, Flywire, space-inspired Kobe patches on the heel, and glow in the dark soles. Also included with this pair are the Attack Fast inserts with the inside of the tongue that matches the intergalactic imagery seen all over the shoe.

The fact that this sneaker bears so much resemblance to the ‘Tie Die’ Foamposite set to drop later this year makes me wonder who will lace those up down in Orlando this February for All-Star Weekend.

Because of this video we also have a better idea on a release date for these. Traditionally, adidas releases new signature sneakers for their players the week after All-Star Weekend but with the shortened season and voting already underway, I wouldn’t be surprised to see these drop at most two weeks after All-Star break.

Many said they would wait for new colorways before passing judgement on this years’ new Air Jordan so enter the ‘Year of the Dragon’ Air Jordan 2012.

This time around the first incarnation of the Jordan 2012 series comes already constructed from Flywire. The design seen on the toecap of the Jordan 2K12 reminds of the styling seen on wingtip shoes, maybe to giving a nod to the growth that Jordan Brand has seen and needs to continue.

The only confirmed colorway seen so far is this standard model but pictures of a Carolina Blue/White has been floating around the internet for some time now.
