Knicks Sign Quentin Richardson For Playoff Run

This is typically the time of year when teams are making last minute adjustments to their rosters in order to gear up for the playoffs. Of course, no trades can be made at this time but teams can sign free agents who are without a team.

In a somewhat surprising move, the Spurs recently cut Stephen Jackson in order to make room for Tracy McGrady, whom they signed yesterday. Also, the Knicks have brought back Quentin Richardson.

Q-Rich was a fixture on the Knicks roster during the Isiah days and can be a solid 3-point shooter. Since the Knicks just set an NBA record for most threes in a season, he’ll fit in just nicely.

Because Richardson hasn’t suited up this season, he’s playoff-eligible and brings the team’s roster to a maximum of 15.

In 12 years in the NBA, Richardson, 33, has averaged 10.3 points and shot a respectable 35.5 percent from 3-point range.

“It gives us one more perimeter guy that can defend a little bit, that can make shots and space the floor like we play,” Mike Woodson said Tuesday on ESPN New York 98.7 FM radio. “I just think it adds to what we’re trying to do.
