Nike Updates Twitter RSVP Process To Prevent Cheating On Getting Sneakers

Without a doubt there is more sneaker releases than ever. The days of a handful of colorway releases releasing all at once until stock ran out has been replaced with new colorways every other week of the marketing life of the sneaker. With demand also growing for basketball kicks, a new system had to be utilized to ensure the safety of potential buyers by introducing the Twitter RSVP system. Through the use of automatic Twitter bots, that idea has been spoiled but now there is a solution to once again level the playing field.

Instead of a tweet going out by your local Nike Store or the Nike Web store which includes the hash tag needed to reserve a pair, an image will be used instead with multiple hash tags on it but the appropriate one for the release will be circled. This new measure is to prevent the growing number of people who use automated Twitter bots to spam Nike accounts with the reserve info which unfairly raised their chances for getting a pair held.

Earlier in 2012, Nike stopped allowing their stores to do midnight releases in the name of consumer safety and opted for the Twitter RSVP program which is a more controlled way for people to get the more coveted sneakers.

Those wanting to come up on rare new releases are to check the Twitter feed of the Nike Store they would like to purchase their desired sneakers from and Direct Message their name, shoe size, and hash tag of the desired sneakers.
