JaVale McGee Face of DTRT Youth Center in Flint, Michigan (PIC)

For all JaVale McGee’s quirks, both on and off the court, he doesn’t seem to be a ‘bad guy’ or anything. He’s just a tad ‘eccentric’. Like Seinfeld level eccentric.

But in his home town of Flint Michigan, JaVale McGee is more than just the class clown. He’s the face of the nonprofit, charitable organization working to provide youth with the direction and tools they need to take the right path in life (more on DTRT after the jump). Peep the organization’s wheels with McGee’s likeness all over it…

The Do the Right Thing Youth Organization (DTRT) is an emerging entity hoping to build a program to support children who live in the Flint community. The goals of this new youth organization are to empower children with life skills, to provide support for the schools, and to provide positive alternatives to hanging out on street corners.

The organization plans to help children from 3rd grade to 12th grade with skills ranging from conflict resolution to learning to be part of a team to how to set and reach goals. Robbie Brown has made a commitment to build this program into a support program for the schools in the Beecher Community School District and for Flint Community Schools. (via Mlive)
