Meeting at Foot Locker headquarters on W. 34th were different media members all invited to be a part of the Foot Locker February/March VIP Media event.
After receiving a personalized bag full of Foot Locker goodies, we boarded a Brooklyn-bound bus and were dropped off right in front of the newly-erected Barclays Center to begin our day. Once we were showed to the locker room, we quickly got changed after becoming acquainted with our teams before being escorted out to the Barclays Center court for a media basketball game. Split into two 25-minute halves, the game was so close towards the end of the final half that an extra 10 minutes were put back on the clock. Despite being the elected floor general for the white team rocking the adidas Rose 3.5, we fell by two to the black team donning the Jordan Melo M9.
Our game came to an end but that wasn’t the last of the shots taken. Right after our game ended, various players from both teams like Ray Allen, Mike Miller, and Reggie Evans began to take the court to begin their shoot around before the game. Having just played on that same court that the previously named NBA players are netting 3s and 15-footers on gave me a whole new respect for the skill level these players operate at.
When finished changing in the locker room we made our way over to The Vault area of the Barclays Center where we previewed the latest Foot Locker commercial staring James Harden & the Nets own Kris Humphries. Right after the spot highlighting the daily releases Foot Locker will carry for two months straight, we were greeted by the star of the new spot himself; Kris Humphries who surprisingly knew a lot more about sneakers than most might think.
If you ever find yourself hungry and in the new Brooklyn sports arena, the only way to dine is upstairs in the latest 40/40 Club which has the perfect view of center court from where we sat. Compliments of their buffet & bar, all present media members munched on a wide variety of eats all before the game. The defending champion Miami Heat absolutely trounced the Brooklyn Nets 105-85 to make it a clean sweep for Miami against Brooklyn this season.
A big thanks has to go out to the good people over at Foot Locker who had us out at the Barclays Center for this event.
