Dirk Nowitzki is 34 years old and is coming off knee surgery. To make matters worse, it’s the first time he’s ever had to deal with knee issues in his career. Because of this, he may have lost a little bit of his edge. Enough to consider retirement? Not so fast,
Dirk is only averaging 16 points this season, but he would still come back after his current deal (which end at the end of next season) expires. Good news for Mavs fans.
“I had some doubts here when I came back,” Nowitzki said. “It took so long. Is it ever going to come back? It was a tough stretch for me coming back from the surgery. But the way I feel now, I still think I can play a couple of years.
“I’ve got this year and next year under contract, so I’ll be 36 and for sure play a couple of more years.”
