Durant: “I Always Wanted to Play for the Toronto Raptors”

Kevin Durant is a once in a lifetime type of talent. He is definitely one of those type of draft choices that can change the course of a franchise. Permanently.

For a few years it looked like Vince Carter was also that kind of talent to change the course of a franchise. And he was, for a few seasons, but it didn’t last. Something tells me that Raptors fans everywhere are wishing today that they would have had draft picks in the 2007 NBA Draft. Durant claims he was a big fan of the Raptors growing up in the VC era and always wanted to play for them….

On Thursday, during an interview on The Dan Patrick Show, Durant said: “Believe it or not, I wanted to play for the Toronto Raptors, that was my favorite team.”

Durant cited that one of the main reasons he grew up cheering for the Raptors was because of the Raptors’ jerseys and the fact they were new to the league.

“They were a new team when I was growing up, so I wanted to be a part of that,” Durant said.

Another reason Durant cheered for the Raptors was because he was a big fan of Vince Carter, Toronto’s former franchise player.

As a former Vince Carter fan myself, I can attest that Durant has far surpassed the man once known as ‘Air Canada’ and is now known to most as ‘Mr.Glass’.
