Julius Randle Is The New #1 Ranked HS Player

September 4, 2012 – Allen Moll

Ever since last Summer, the Top 100 prospects in the 2013 recruiting class have been putting in work and battling each other with the top spot in the rankings as the prize.

During the high school season, forward Jabari Parker was hailed as the best prep player since Lebron James.  But after an injury sidelined him all Summer, prized prospects like Julius Randle, Aaron Gordon, and the Harrison twins have been nipping at his heels to stake claim to the #1 spot.

While top rated PG and SG, twin brothers Andrew and Aaron Harrison, have had an impressive Summer AAU showing and Blake Griffin clone Aaron Gordon is fresh off a co-MVP performance at the 2012 Elite 24 Game, the multi-talented PF Julius Randle has surpassed them all by earning the #1 ranking by Rivals heading into their senior seasons.

The 6’9 and 240lb Randle hails from Dallas, Texas and has drawn comparisons to 3 time NBA MVP Lebron James for his bruising front court and perimeter play.  Already possessing an NBA ready body, Randle has tremendous ball-handling ability, an excellent first step, and prolific scoring and rebounding skills that make him a tremendous mismatch every time he steps on the floor.

Randle is one of the most sought after still uncommitted prospects in the 2013 Class and has recently narrowed down his college choices to a rather wide 10 schools including Kentucky, UNC, Duke, Baylor, Florida, Kansas, NC State, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, and Texas.

There’s now doubting that Julius’ numerous outstanding performances this Summer on the AAU circuit, especially his one-on-one showdown with prized junior Andrew Wiggins at the Peach Jam, and winning the Dunk Contest and sharing MVP honors at the 2012 Elite 24 Game helped vault him to the #1 spot.
