Air Jordan V – ‘Dr Doom’ Sample Were On eBay for $4800

September 10, 2012 – Ben Berry

It is common knowledge that not every Air Jordan Retro that makes it to the sample phase ends up getting a barcode and released in stores, but just because they aren’t widely released doesn’t mean they just disappear. Samples have always been around and it used to be that the only way one would be able to procure a pair was to know an employee or know someone that knows an employee. However with the invention of eBay and the internet they are more accessible than ever.

Rumored to be one of less than 5 pairs in existence, the unreleased black/white Jordan V were available on eBay HERE in a size 13. They were for sale for a whopping $4800 US.

The ‘Dr. Doom’ nickname comes from the Marvel villain and this pair features an entirely black upper with a solid white mid-sole that matches the white inner lining and branding.  An interesting feature is the speckled “teeth” along the mid-sole that sits atop the translucent sole.

This is the same unnamed pair, a Jordan Brand employee wore in a piece I did about “Wear your Jordan Vs to work day” earlier last week.

Think these are the best Jordan V sample?  Let us know in the comment box below.
