Bill Self’s 2011 Basketball Boogie Promo Video

June 1, 2011 – Allen Moll

Although this year’s Kansas Jayhawks squad left the “Big Dance” a tad earlier than expected and will again be losing a number of key contributors to either the NBA Draft or graduation, coach Bill Self is already focused preparing for a successful 2011-2012 campaign. Gone are the Morris twins, Josh Selby, and Brady Morningstar and in their places are Top 40 rated SG Ben McLemore, elite level PG Naadir Tharpe, and big man Braedon Anderson.

There’s no doubting Self has quite a job ahead of himself getting all the new recruits acclimated to playing in “The Phog” and alongside incumbent star players Tyshawn Taylor and Thomas Robinson for next season. Judging by past experience, Self will surely have the Jayhawks among the upper echelon of the Big 12 Conference in no time.

One of the things that helps coach relate to young players is his playful demeanor and down to earth temperment behind the scenes. Last year at this time we showed you just how much fun he likes to have when he poked fun at himself by donning a leisure suit and asking everyone to get up and boogie for charity.

This year’s event is called the 2011 Basketball Boogie, with all proceeds benefiting a number of youth charities in the Kansas City area. The promo video for this year’s Basketball Boogie is just plain hilarious as a number of his players have joined him in promoting the dance-a-thon for 2011.
