His 2009 schedule entailed full season to the finals with the Magic; European Championships for Turkey (all summer), maybe 3 weeks of rest, and then the Raptors. He was problably more fatigued than out of shape. The media should mention this in fariness to Hedo. He’s also played with a spained ankle, a broken orbital bone this season. Also, the flu-like symptons he’s had this year, he’s had his whole career. If any of the media lambasting him would do their job and look it up (just google it), it’d be clear that it’s not something contrived. I’m sure there is an explanation to the being out partying story, but I’m guessing he’s too classy to be a disruption about it.
Also, with the Magic, VanGundy used him as a point forward AND point guard bringing up the ball and setting up the offense (I think that’s what he meant with the “ball” comment everyone seems to have jumped on. Triano was using him as a classical small forward – limited touches. Obviously, this is a bad fit. Toronto’s management knew what is playing style was, so I’m perplexed as to why they’d bring him in and try to force him into something else.

I still think that the Raptors will pick it up as the season goes on. Perhaps Calderon will be able to carry Hedo a bit more, but either way, Turkoglu should be doing a better job of shouldering the load — money talks.
