Dr Anklesnap makes a good point. This site is anything but pro-Laker.

For instance, back when Bryant has yet to win a season MVP the season MVP was the greatest award ever: "So after 11 full NBA seasons, now playing in his 12th, why has Kobe never won the league’s greatest individual honor, the “Maurice Podoloff Trophy” for the leagues Most Valuable Player?"

http://thehoopdoctors.com/online2/2008/04/why-kobe-will-win-his-first-mvp-and-why-he-doesn%E2%80%99t-really-deserve-it%E2%80%A6/

But when Bryant won the MVP, all of a sudden, it was the Finals MVP that was the greatest award ever: "Performing on the NBA’s greatest stage, the NBA Finals, and winning an award recognizing your achievement towards your contribution to your team’s success is the ultimate praise given out by the league"

Now, of course, it will be the Defensive Player of the Year title that is the most awesomest cool ultimate award, but I digress.

I look at Durant as a two guard but he definitely plays the Small Forward and might play it more. Their frontcourt drastically improves with Durant playing the 3 and who cares who their Center is when you got Durant and Green.

I understand the Celtics argument but KG is not as good as he used to be. He averaged 16 ppg and 8 rpg and I understand his defensive influence but Antawn Jamison put up 22 ppg and 9 rpg. KG might be better than Jamison, and vise versa, but it is not by a wide margin.

Paul Pierce (20 ppg, 5 prg, 3 apg, 1 spg) also might be better than Caron Butler but his numbers suggest otherwise (21 ppg, 6 rpg, 4 apg, 1 spg).

I like the youth and depth in Washington and Boston is depending on their experienced frontcourt. It is a difference in philosophies.

I am not a Lakers fan but there is no denying their frontcourt. It is clearly the best in the NBA. Gasol, Odom, Bynum is disgusting.

I obviously love Toronto's acquisitions. Bosh and Turkoglu are two of the best players in the world and Andrea Bargnani might be on his way.

Good list. Got to agree with Mo (even though he seems like a dick) that Durant does play mostly SF now. They tried him at SG for awhile and it didn't work.

If it were MY list, I wouldn't put Toronto nearly that high or SA and Portland nearly that low. It seems like you're placing too high an emphasis on scoring and not enough on D and rebounding.

@ John Beumer:

Laker fan site? LOL, that is a first. About 90% of the time we are accused of being a Laker hating site that does nothing but promote and support Celtics, Nuggets, Heat, and Cavs. And if I had to pick a team that we have given more positive support than any other it would have to be the Celtics. Nice to know you've been following:

<a href="http://thehoopdoctors.com/online2/2008/06/nba-finals-2008-game-4-%E2%80%93-lakers-have-stunning-collapse-ray-allen-is-my-mvp/" rel="nofollow">Lakers/Celtics Game 4</a>

I could go on and on here. But yes, I guess you are right. We hate the Celtics and love the Lakers. This article author Matt Anaya is the newest edition to The Hoop Doctors, but this post is very 'unbiased' in our opinion, and he did a great job.

John, you really should drop by more often, you may enjoy a lot of our pro-Celtics content.

"How could you say the Wizards have a better frontcourt than the Celtics? The Celtics are better at every single position - Kendrick Perkins > Brendan Haywood, Kevin Garnett > Antawn Jamison, Paul Pierce > Caron Butler

To even suggest otherwise is brutal."
  Jay,
You have to understand that the Hoop Doctors is a Lakers fan site that is trying to be NBA site. No matter how hard they try to be even-handed, they can't help but to over-rate the Lakers and under-rate the Celtics when they rank the teams. This is how you get absurdities like the Nuggets and the Wizards (and the Lakers) frontcourts being rated higher then the Celtics. Just ignore anything having to do with the Celts or the Lakers when you read something here and it'll be OK.

@Matt - I've got to agree with Jay King, although they are one of the oldest front courts (aside from Perk) the Celtics with Sheed, Garnett, Pierce, Perk, and possibly Baby have got to be a top 2-3 front courts in the league. Otherwise great list.

@Mo - you're correct that Durant played 3 and Green played 4. But don't speak too soon. With the strength of Durants outside shooting stroke, (it's scary but word is he's even improved it this summer), Kevin may spend a good portion of his career creating mismatch nightmares for other 2 guards across the league. Although i'd hope Green remains at the 4 because he's got great old school foot work. Problem is he may be a bit on the light side to really dominate at that spot. If Green improved his face up game and grabbed some handles from somewhere. Wouldn't be shocked to see the majority of their careers with Durant at the 2 and Green at the 4.

Lovin' the bigs. Should be a great year.
