The Lakers should have a good chance with Artest. He may not single handedly be able to make them a better team defensively, but he can’t hurt. He’s definitely the best perimeter defender 1-4 they have on the team.

Yes, because the guy who never won a single Finals game in his career ever, and would have gotten swept in the Confrence Finals last year if not for a game-winning three in Game 2, and got beaten twice in the regular season against the Lakers would be such threat againsnt them in the Finals. Well, obviously De France hates Artest. Those kind of statistics prove nothing. The Rockets were better because of him, they displayed a tougher attitude thanks to him, they represented a threat because of him. The Lakers thing is a completely different situation, Artest’s favorite player is Kobe, and his best friend in the League is Odom, so he’ll be willing to cooperate, he wants a championship, and Phil’s philosophy represents the ideal situation for Ron.

The Lakers can’t repeat? We’ll see about that R.S.

Optimists will point out that Artest’s Pacers had the best record in the league and were seconds away from soundly defeating still-mighty Detroit at the Palace.

Pessimists will wonder why he chose that exact moment to cheap-shot Ben Wallace and effectively start The Brawl.
