Should Hilton Armstrong Get Suspended For Defending Chris Paul?

Hilton Armstrong Hornets

December 29, 2008 – Dr. Browntorious

Last night at the end of the half between the New Orleans Hornets and the Indiana Pacers, tempers started to boil over. Specifically Chris Paul was getting frustrated with being down to the much weaker Indiana Pacers. Paul has been getting frustrated a lot lately with the recent poor play of the Hornets.

And if you’re frustrated, there is very few players that will get under your skin more than Troy Murphy of the Pacers. Not that he does it on purpose, but mainly because he is a workhorse that loves to bump, push, nudge, and otherwise grind out every possession until the refs whistle signals a stoppage. I love playing on a team with players like that, I conversely hate playing against players like that.

So at the end of the half Chris Paul and Troy Murphy both go for the ball following the buzzer. Words were exchanged between the two, then out of nowhere Hilton “I think i’m a heavy but i’m really not” Armstrong comes in out of nowhere to defend his superstar point guard (Not that he really needed defending at the time).

Hilton Armstrong proceeds to push Murphy hard with two hands in the chest for seemingly no reason. My guess is, Armstrong just bought himself a suspension. Good job, that must have boosted Chris Paul’s spirits, huh? Check out the play for yourself….

If he gets suspended for that then the NBA has become a joke. It was a big man standing up for his best player. If anything the NBA needs more of that

i think he should be suspended…that was pretty unnecessary even if it was to defend CP3, i think theres just a bias here cause Chris Paul is…well, Chris Paul. otherwise it was nice of Armstrong to defend him

to be consistent the NBA should be suspending Armstrong for this as they are suspending everyone else this year for less than this. Personally though I agree with Scott that the NBA is becoming a joke that you can’t even push a guy face to face without getting suspended. Look at hockey they bash eachother and full out fight and there is no suspensions. I’m not saying I want hockey style fights in bball, but they should allow the players to show some emotion. Emotion sells stern. are you a business man or what?

If Armstrong gets suspended the Hornets will barely notice. Chris Paul doesn’t care if armstrong is suspended for a game or two. He was only in the game cause chandler was in foul trouble anyway.

Armstrong plays between 15-20 mins a game..If you take a guy who plays those minutes from the rotation and think the Hornets won’t notice you’re crazy. Chandler doesn’t have the wind to pick up those minutes

Good for Murphy! I wish other teams would have a guy that would gladly kick someone’s ass when their franchise player is being threatened. Guess what, now Murphy isnt going to test his boundaries as much for the rest of the game. Man was told, put in his place, and sent on his way.

Reminds me of hockey when the goalie gets threatenend.

Melo_Time Armstrong wouild be missed if he was out. I watch the Hornets all the time and he does do something worth being missed. I agree with Scott
