How does J.R. Rider’s “Play of the Decade” stack up in 2008?

It’s been more than a decade since Isiah aka “J.R.” Rider’s now infamous “Play of the Decade” where he was falling out of bounds and saved the ball straight towards the hoop and into the net for one of the wildest buckets i’ve ever seen. We want to give a shout out to The Hoop Doctors reader Patrick Alexander from Baton Rouge, LA for the reminder. Here it is:
But the “Play of the Decade” hoop by Rider was in 1994. Now that we are fast approaching 2009, how does the hoop by J.R. stack up against all of the other crazy plays we’ve had since? Over at The Hoop Doctors we aren’t necessarily thinking it’s the greatest “play” ever but it’s certainly the wildest shot ever. Another high flier, Dwyane Wade, this summer in the Olympics however had a similar play falling out of bounds, however it was an amazing alley-oop pass to Kobe Bryant that gave us a little flash of the magic of J.R. Rider…
What do you consider to be the best “play” of the last decade? How about wildest shot? We’d love to hear from you by email or in the comments section below…
