@Sniper – Kobe is definitely a top pick, but he’s not a fantasy monster. His field goal percentage is nowhere near as good as the big men in the game that dunk the ball a lot. He’s a high scorer and has a good free throw percentage. But doesn’t get a ton of steals or assists which are valued higher in most leagues. He doesn’t get many blocks or rebounds either compared to a lebron who gets more points, more free throws, more rebounds, more assists, more steals, more blocks, and does all that with better field goal percentages.

Lebron is twice as good of a pick as Kobe in fantansy.

I agree with you that Amare could be a bit high on this list, but when you think about it his field goal percentage is through the roof when he’s healthy and he scores a ton.

Kobe is totally a viable number 1 pick.

He has lead the league in scoring his entire career.
That’s consistency.
Over the season he will be in the top two volume points.
He attempts more free throws than anyone in the league and makes a great %. That volume helps cement the cat.

Chris Paul is also a fantasy freak but with assists and steals. Since those stats are more obscure, many people give his freaky stat the edge over scoring – and push him to the number one spot.

King James as well… A safe number one overall pick.
He has kobe on every stat except ft% and 3’s.
Lebron awesome.

So all three of those guys are so close and interchangeable (since we can’t tell the future) that any one in the number 1-3 spot is fine. I am surprised to see Amare, Dwade and Brand snuck in there.

Wade has never had a season better than those 3 guys 07-08 season. And his health has been an ongoing issue. Amare and Brand also have some question marks surrounding them. I say play it conservative for the first three rounds and stick to guys with a sure thing.

For me Calderon should slide way down at least as far as under D. Williams. And make room for guys like Yao Ming, Shard, Camby and Gasol.

And really Brandon Roy over, Iquodala, JRich, Billups, J. Johnson, heck Kevin Martin????

@Jay – Kobe lover huh? The kobe lovers always think he should be first in everything but this isn’t mvp voting its fantasy. Kobe probably will be inconsistent scorer like last year when he was being better teammate.

I agree with you that Brand is too high though. coming off injury he might suck.

good list. I do think that Elton Brand is listed too high. Also Garnett is too low he should be moved up cause he can do it all. And he’s rarely ever hurt.

Also I think Ray Allen should be on your list. He’s an amazing shooter and proved his value all season last year in fantasy leagues.

What about specialty guys like camby? he is great in roto leagues cause of dominating blocks, steals, boards, and everything.

to be honest, the first few are terrible, Kobe’s 6th? I agree that Lebron should be first, though i picked Chris Paul in my league, but Elton Brand should be maybe 8th or 9th, with Dalembert there, no way Brand will be doing all that rebounding and blocking but he WILL be scoring much more. And to those who said Melo should be higher than Butler, now that Arenas is still out, and Jamison is injured (even if its for a little while), Butler will have to do everything
