I can’t really blame the man for doing what 95% of workers around the country do: take a job to put himself in a better situation.

There is some hearsay — as Brandon points out — but, as an outsider without any personal contact with Elton Brand, can you really blame the guy?

I agree Brandon. That is what makes it so sketchy though. Wjhy would he jump ship to Philly for the same money? Did he have an under the table deal with Philly for months?

I wish I knew how accurate the reports are that say that Brand gave the Clippers his word. If he did, than he deserves criticism. But I don’t think anyone can argue that he didn’t do what was best for him and his career. And it’s not like he turned the Clippers down because he was offered more money. Philly’s deal was only a million dollars more.

You can’t understand how much this hurts for Clippers fans… It’s not just loosing 25 and 12 every night. It tore our hearts out. After so many years of suffering it looked like we had a team… Then Elton goes and betrays us. The face of our franchise, by all accounts a good, honorable man, does this? What did we ever do to deserve this? I was going to buy season tickets, but now I just can’t do it. I don’t think I can take another 30-win season. Now what can I hope for? Josh Smith? Emeka Okafor? They are no Elton Brand… but after what he did, I guess that’s not an entirely bad thing.

Smart move on Brand’s side. And yeah, completely different than the Boozer double-cross. In Philly, Brand has a better chance to win in a weak east, is closer to his home and family, made more guaranteed money on bad legs, and will be a star in a major sports city instead of red-headed step child of Kobe and the Lakers. After Garnet and Bosh he can battle Sheed, JSmith (maybe) for an allstar spot which he could conceivably make all 5 years. You had to know that the Clippers were gonna figure out a way to blow it. Best of luck with Baron (if he stays) and his bum knees. Luckily, the Staples Center has this other team that plays on off-days, I hear they’re pretty good.

I am soooooo happy that my sixers are getting Brand!!!! He is going to be such a great pairing with Dre and Iggy!!!

Sixers with Brand would have murdered the pistons this year. I can’t wait for next year now!!
