Wade to Bulls? | The Hoop Doctors Rumor Patrol

NBA Rumors | Dwayne Wade to Chicago Bulls?

June 22, 2008 – Dr. J-Water

A few weeks ago we heard the extremely far-fetched rumor that the Miami Heat may consider trading young superstar Dwayne Wade to his hometown Chicago Bulls. It seems as crazy now as it did a few weeks ago, however the rumor has resurfaced as of late in multiple mainstream media sources claiming there is some substance to it. The latest reference to the possibility came in this Sunday’s edition of the Boston Globe. Marc Spears has said some crazy things in his time, but nothing that would warrant completely turning a blind eye to this possibility.

Who would the Heat get in return for Wade?

The possibility outlined in the Globe report was the Heat shipping Wade to the Bulls in exchange for the #1 pick in the 2008 NBA Draft, plus young high flyer Tyrus Thomas and Larry Hughes. You may wonder why the Heat might even consider this, given that Wade is young and clearly a top 5 player in the league. The answer is simple, ‘rebuilding for the future’. If the Heat pulled the trigger on this deal they would hold the #1 and #2 picks in this year’s NBA draft. Essentially that would mean they would get both the highly touted top prospects of PG Derrick Rose out of Memphis, and PF Michael Beasley out of Kansas State. What better way to rebuild a franchise then around the tandem of Rose and Beasley? Throw in the raw, high-flying shot blocker Tyrus Thomas into the mix and the Heat would have one of the brightest futures in the NBA.

Don’t get me wrong; I never would promote a trade that ships a way a player of Dwayne Wade’s caliber, as players with his ability and competitiveness only come along once in a blue moon. But given Wade’s aggressive playing style, taking the ball to the cup with reckless abandon, there are constantly questions surrounding him and his ability to stay healthy. After two straight seasons playing far fewer games than expected the Heat may be getting a little concerned and looking to move Wade while his stock value is huge.

Think of a Miami Heat line-up of Derrick Rose, Larry Hughes, Shawn Marion, Michael Beasley, and Tyrus Thomas. That would have the Heat marketing machine once again cranked into overdrive, White Heat anyone? In today’s NBA game; where many teams are moving to a smaller lineup to play the up-tempo run and gun game, there may not be any lineup of athletes scarier in the open court than this 5 man combination.

So is there anything to this Wade/Chicago rumor; or is it all Bull?

if they truly wanted to build for the future then keeping Wade is a better move then trading him for #1 pick, Hughes and Thomas.
The Heat are rebuilding for the future right now with the #2 pick, Wade, Haslem, and Marion. If they draft Beasley then they’ll need to find a pg via free agency or trade; if they end up gettting Rose then they’ll need to make a move at a forward via free agency or trade.
there is a good arguement for trading Wade because of his injury riddled history, but he’s young and, like you said, a top 5 player in the league.

Don’t trade wade! that would be dumbest move heat ever make. He is the only player in the league that has the skills nad drive to win like JOrdan. that would be a huge mistake to trade him. Pluse Rose and Beasley could turn out to be garbage in NBA at least wade is proven superstar in the pro’s

you have to admit, there is a certain cache to that rumour. really interesting what the # 1 pick is worth. you would have to package larry hughes and tyrus thomais with it to land wade…almost seems lopsided until you consider the heat hold the # 2 pick with two studs coming out of college.

I would have to say that is a good trade for the Heat to consider. Wade is amazing but having Both Rose and Beasley would make the Heat a force man!! Both are nba ready to be contributors and superstars

Anyone who would trade Wade is off their rocker or should I say needs to be retired to a rocking chair. We saw in the layoffs that Kobe was no Wade. Who is at crunch time. He was Mr. Crunch in his 1st year when we went 6 games with Indiana and in the next two seasons including the championship series.

The Celtics clearly have the best team. With Wade plus the #2 pick we can once again challenge the Celtics or anyone else. Look at the affect the trade would have on attendance! I would never go to a heat game Wade were traded. I’m sitting on the side lines waiting to see what happens. I have had my tickets since the first year.

The heat should come out and put this rumor to a halt. That would be the class thing to do. Well I guess Riley is not up to that.

If the Miami Heat and the Chicago Bulls come to an agreement for a trade regarding Wade, then the Bulls can not trade Derrick Rose. They have already cleared up enough salary room to get a max free agent. Derrick Rose gets paid less than Kirk Hinrich!!! It would be in the Bulls best interest to keep D. Rose because he is a superstar already. Fourth in jersey sales only behind the true top 3 in the NBA (lebon, kobe, and wade).

Wade is definitely not happy in Miami, you can just see the disappointment in Wade’s face sometimes in his colleagues. Wade is not the only player who should be traded from their current team.

If Michael Jordan is not able to buy the Charlotte Bobcats, please do Gerald Wallace and all NBA fans a favor and get HIM to the bulls.

    Derrick Rose – PG
    Dwyane Wade – SG
    Gerald Wallace – SF
    Joakim Noah – PF
    Brad Miller – C
