Howard Has First 30-30 Game in NBA Since 2010

Dwight Howard has been one of the better rebounders in NBA history, leading the NBA in rebounds six times and serving as the active leader in the category.

He did something he had never done in his NBA career and has happened only twice in the past 36 years on Wednesday night though, a 30 point, 30 rebound game.

Howard helped the Hornets overcome a 23 point deficit in their 111-105 victory in Brooklyn in what was a memorable night in a forgettable season.

Here are the other 30-30 games in NBA history post Wilt Chamberlain, who did it 128 times:

Dwight Howard (Charlotte Hornets, 3/21/2018): 32 points, 30 rebounds
Kevin Love (Minnesota Timberwolves, 11/12/2010): 31 points, 31 rebounds
Moses Malone (Houston Rockets, 2/11/1982): 38 points, 32 rebounds
Swen Nater (Milwaukee Bucks, 12/19/1976): 30 points, 33 rebounds
Elvin Hayes (Capital Bullets, 11/17/1973): 43 points, 32 rebounds

We all remember Swen Nater right? What a beast.

Howard gets a lot of criticism for his locker room antics and selfishness, and many think he is over the hill, but the numbers don’t back that up.

Howard is averaging 16.6 points and 12.2 rebounds per game and is still a plus defender at +1.9 defensive box plus/minus.

Howard still has some left in the tank and will have other great nights as his career winds down, but he will never have a better night than on Wednesday though.
