NBA 2k

The NBA 2K franchise has become a phenomenon that has taken the NBA world and its fans around the world by storm since it’s inception in 1999 and even more so this past decade.

The 2K18 version of the series will be released on September 19, 2017 and features Kyrie Irving in a Cavaliers uniform on the cover (yikes).

NBA players putting way too much stock into their ratings for the game and complaining that they are rated too low (are you surprised? Professional athletes are a very prideful bunch) has also become a tradition as well.

Numerous players tweet Ronnie2K as he is referred to on Twitter, the czar of all NBA 2K ratings to ask for their rating before the game is released and essentially to quibble with him about why it is too low, he never backs down though.

So for fun for all of you NBA2K fans out there, here are the player ratings that have been released thus far…

Steph Curry and Kevin Durant

Giannis Antetokounmpo

Karl Anthony Towns

John Wall

Gordon Hayward

Bradley Beal

Kristaps Porzingis

Dwight Howard

Lonzo Ball

Markelle Fultz

De’Angelo Russell

Dennis Smith

While these ratings are pretty on the mark in my opinion and they usually are, I feel like most would agree that John Wall is a better player than Karl-Anthony Towns and maybe the Greek Freak and therefore could be a little higher than a 90, but that is nitpicking.

Also, while a much more valuable asset and resource moving forward, (and way more popular around the league and adored by front office people) Kristaps is not considerably better than Dwight Howard as he is with his rating of an 86 compared to Howard’s 81 in my opinion.

It makes a lot of sense that Ball and Fultz have the same rating of an 80 entering their rookie season, it is also interesting that Ball has the same rating as Russell the point guard he replaced in LA.

For those who are unaware, these ratings are fluid and updated throughout the NBA season. I can guarantee you that Dennis Smith’s rating will be higher than a 76 by the time his rookie season is over, I have him as my rookie of the year this season.

The 2017-18 season will be here before we know it!
