With the transition to Nike as the major NBA jersey and apparel sponsor starting with the 2017-18 season, many teams are unveiling slightly altered versions of their uniforms from the season before. One team that has decided to use the opportunity to completely change and update their look is the Indiana Pacers.
The Pacers at one time had some of the snazziest duds in the league in the late 90s and early 2000s with their navy blue, white and yellow pinstriped jerseys. Recent iterations have had less flair though and haven’t stood out in any way, their 2017-18 jersey collection is really ushering in a new style and era post PG-13.

While I am not typically a fan of having the city and team nickname on the front of the jersey, or the circular text, I think these Pacers jerseys are pretty cool.
The rays going down the side of the uniform are eye-catching and easily the best part, a very sleek and modern addition. They apparently symbolize the Suns’s rays as farm-rich Indiana residents take pride in their work ethic and getting up when the sun rises.

They have more of a college and youthful feel and are complimented, as you can see in the video, by a new court design and a new team logo featuring the traditional “P” logo in the shape of the state of Indiana.
These jerseys have their faults, but it is a nice update for a team in search of a new identity.
