Celtics, 76ers to Play in London in 2017-18 Season

london

One of the biggest goals of the NBA and the NFL over the past five to ten years especially, is to become more of an international league and product.

The NBA has had games in London and Mexico City and preseason games in China and Brazil for the past few years and the NFL has had regular season games in London for a year now.

The Nuggets and the Pacers played a regular season game in the O2 Arena in London during the 2016-17 season (in which the Nuggets trounced the Pacers 140-112) and now it appears the match-up for the 2017-18 season is set, the Celtics and the 76ers on January 11, 2018.

The 76ers and Celtics seems like a great match-up for a London game for a number of reasons as two historic franchises and east coast teams that have plenty of intrigue surrounding them going into the 2017-18 season.

Interesting that the NBA has chosen to take away a home game from Philadelphia to have them play in this game though, as ticket sales have been skyrocketing this summer after “The Process” acquired Markelle Fultz with the No. 1 pick and will have Ben Simmons on the court for the first time.

According to a report from CSN Philly in June, the 76ers have already set a new record for season ticket sales for the 2017-18 season and have sold more season tickets than any other team in the NBA.

This should be a fun game if you are able to watch it mid-day Thursday January 11. Here is to hoping we will be able to see all of the big names on the court for both teams in this game.
