Magic Mulling Over Firing GM Rob Hennigan

The Orlando Magic are currently sitting in 14th place in the eastern conference at 25-45 and will miss the postseason for the fifth straight season.

Not exactly what the organization or fan base was hoping for when you consider the fact that the Magic went all in to make the postseason this year, by trading for Serge Ibaka (already gone) and paying big money to Bismack Biyombo and Jeff Green in free agency.

The Magic are clearly a franchise that has lost any sense of direction this past year and a half and that is a big reason why ownership is considering firing General Manager Rob Hennigan.

Here is what ESPN Reporter Marc Stein Reported:

The Orlando Magic are giving strong consideration to a big change in their front office, according to league sources.

Sources told ESPN that Magic general manager Rob Hennigan’s job is under threat at season’s end in the wake of a fifth straight non-playoff season since he was hired.”

Hennigan is on his third coach in five seasons, the team hasn’t won more than 35 games in a given season, and since February of 2016 the Magic have basically turned Victor Oladipo, Tobias Harris and the opportunity to draft Domantas Sabonis into Terrance Ross and a 1st round pick.

He also drafted Mario Hezonja in lieu of Devin Booker and has quelled Aaron Gordon’s development this off-season by acquiring three other frontcourt players in the off-season in Ibaka, Biyombo and Green.

It is time for Hennigan to go.
