LeBron Avoids Taking Down Belichick During Cavs-Celtics Game

The Cavaliers and Celtics had an entertaining and intense battle in Boston Wednesday night that had a playoff feel to it as the Celtics pulled off a 103-99 win behind more late-game heroics by Isaiah Thomas.

Quite possibly the most interesting part of the night though was when we almost saw two legends collide (in a literal manner) early in the 4th quarter when LeBron James attempted to block a shot and his momentum carried him into the front row beneath the hoop and directly in the path of New England Patriots Head Coach Bill Belichick.

LeBron clearly and consciously did whatever he could to contort his body to avoid bowling over the legendary purveyor of “Do Your Job” to the delight of Celtics fans and maybe the dismay of his own Cleveland fans (Belichick was once the head coach of the Cleveland Browns, oops).

Unfortunately the cameraman had to deal with the consequences of LeBron’s decision…

When asked about the situation after the game, King James basically acknowledged the respect from one legend in his profession to another and why he did whatever he could to avoid the collision.

“I’m not taking no legend out. I’m not doing that. I need to keep seeing him win. That’s pretty cool for me.”

This is a funny story and not at all surprising, there is always a great deal of respect between high level athletes or coaches at the top of their respected sport, and let’s be honest while a Cleveland and all things Ohio lover, LeBron has always been a front runner as a fan, I mean his favorite baseball team is the Yankees and his favorite football team is the Cowboys.
