Warriors Announce Kevin Durant is ‘Making Good Progress,” Will Be Re-evaluated in 7-10 Days

Kevin Durant

The Golden State Warriors have an update on Kevin Durant’s recovery from a sprained MCL he suffered against the Washington Wizards in February.

He’s going to be okay.

Fine, here’s the actual update:

Clips of Durant getting shots up have surfaced on Twitter, so this was inevitable. Still, for the Warriors, it’s good to hear he’s resuming some official basketball activity.

Another seven-to-10 days on the shelf would put Durant’s earliest return at April 4 against the Minnesota Timberwolves. That would give him five games to find his live-action bearings before the postseason. While it’s not exactly plenty of time, it’s good enough. If he misses another 10 days, he’ll have just three games left on the schedule—and that’s assuming he’s ready to rock by the next update.

In the meantime, the Warriors will continue their trek toward world domination. They have won nine in a row and basically clinched the best record in the NBA with their victory over the San Antonio Spurs on Wednesday night. Stephen Curry is playing like the 2015-16 version of himself, and the defense has been an impenetrable fortress.

If the playoffs started today, without Durant, the Warriors would be favorites to win it all. That they’re going to welcome him back to the fold is straight terrifying for the rest of the league.
