New location, same DeMarcus Cousins. As you’d expect, he’s still the same fiery competitor in New Orleans playing alongside Anthony Davis as he was as the focal point in Sacramento.
Cousins was hit with a $50,000 for verbal altercations with fans earlier in the week. “Inappropriate language” is what the league is calling it. In one incident, Cousins was caught on camera telling a heckling fan (who was calling him “soft”) to “sit your fat @ss down.” Not defending Cousins, but the fan should be held accountable, too.
A statement from NBA executive vice president Kiki VanDeWeghe said the fine related to incidents on Sunday and Monday where Cousins directed “inappropriate language” at fans.
On Sunday, video footage caught Cousins trading barbs with fans at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, where the Pelicans scored a 105-97 victory against the Lakers.
Cousins was heard uttering an obscenity at fans who had heckled him as “fat boy.”
