Russell Wilson Pushes for NBA Return to Seattle, Seeks Ownership Stake

Russell Wilson Seattle Supersonics

These days, Seattle is known more for football than basketball. Once upon a time, the NBA was really big in Seattle. This was back when the Supersonics were still a Seattle team. But then the franchise relocated to Oklahoma City, becoming the Thunder. It is Russell Wilson’s desire to reverse Seattle’s fortunes, though the US betting odds of him succeeding do not look good.

You wouldn’t expect a quarterback to be working so fervently to bring the NBA back into his city. But, not every quarterback is Seahawks player Russell Wilson. Wilson has every reason to campaign for the NBA’s return to Seattle.

And it isn’t like he has some sort of sports-related stake in teams like the Thunder and has his professional hopes and dreams tied to their return to Seattle. Rather, Wilson has always wanted to own a sports team, and the NBA is giving him an opportunity to do just that.

Wilson is a highly ambitious man, and that is going to serve him in his efforts to bring the NBA back to Seattle. There are some curious rumors emerging about the way the deal between Wilson and investor Chris Hansen came about.

The one thing that is clear is the role Wilson is going to have in the future of the NBA in Seattle. Wilson saw fit to join a group led by Hansen to bring the NBA back to Seattle.

Their plans to achieve this goal involve building an NBA/NHL arena in the SODO neighborhood in Seattle. And Wilson isn’t partaking in Hansen’s efforts out of the goodness of his heart.

Neither is he looking to bank a massive paycheck for his services once everything comes together for Hansen and group. Rather, Wilson wants an ownership stake in the basketball team if it ever returns to Seattle.

The prospect of acquiring an ownership stake is a great source of excitement for Wilson who will do everything in his power to make his dreams come true in this regard. Wilson has had to repeatedly emphasize his dream of owning a sports team.

It isn’t the sort of goal people took seriously, at least until today. As with most young people around his age, Wilson is dying to be part of something special. The NBA will give him an opportunity to do just that.

Wilson has shown that he has the business mindset necessary to steer Hansen and his group in the right direction. More than merely fulfilling his personal goals, Wilson also believes that the project to bring the NBA back to Seattle will actually benefit the community.

Wilson has emphasized the importance of using the project to give back to the community, helping initiate essential changes and transforming the lives of so many people.

Of course, some people might dismiss his words as propaganda designed to appeal to the relevant authorities. Then again, the fact that Hansen and his group have announced that they will build the arena using private funds explains why some people have begun warming up to Wilson’s promise.

Whether or not the efforts to bring the NBA back to Seattle succeed or fail, Wilson is certain that a positive reaction to the project could help the city finally prosper.
