Derrick Rose Finds Triangle Offense “Complicated”

With each coach that Phil Jackson interviews, the topic of the Triangle Offense surely comes up. Derek Fisher implemented it and we’ll surely see Jeff Hornacek do the same. Phil is determined to never let it go, no matter how long it’s been since it has been successful for him.

Derrick Rose is now at the forefront of this offense. As the brand new starting point guard under Phil Jackson’s watch, Rose will be asked to run the Triangle. Camp hasn’t been open that long, so he’s still adjusting to it all. Rose, admittedly, is struggling with it, but is confident they’ll be able to work it out.

The point guard said Thursday he had no previous knowledge of Phil Jackson’s offense except for the little experience playing the Lakers. And when the Knicks began their in-depth triangle teaching at the second session of Wednesday’s training camp, Rose discovered, “there’s like 40 to 50 options on one side of the floor.

“It’s complicated a little bit right now because it’s new to us. It’s foreign,” Rose said. “But I think the more we work on it and the way the coaches are putting it into the offense, it’s a little bit easier.”
