Team USA Updates for Rio Olympics

Team USA usa-basketball_telegraph_0

Amidst all of the NBA Draft, offseason and trade chatter, a number of the NBA’s elite have stated their intentions about playing for Team USA in the summer Olympics in Rio.

Here is a list of players who as of now appear to be in and out:

In:

Paul George
Carmelo Anthony
Kyle Lowry
Kevin Durant
DeMarcus Cousins
Draymond Green
Jimmy Butler
DeAndre Jordan

Out:

Steph Curry
Anthony Davis
Damian Lillard
Chris Paul
Blake Griffin
Russell Westbrook
John Wall
LaMarcus Aldridge
James Harden
Andre Drummond

Undecided (Leaning toward no):

LeBron James

Lowry and Carmelo announced Thursday morning that they would be playing while Damian Lillard announced he would not play while he recovers from Plantar Fasciisitis. Griffin, Davis, Wall and Aldridge are out while they recover from surgery, Curry and Paul want to rest their bodies for next season and Harden, Westbrook and now Drummond basically just don’t want to play.

Kawhi Leonard, Kyrie Irving and Klay Thompson seem to be good bets to join the team as well. Adding a veteran leader and play maker like LeBron would be a huge coo for the team as they are sorely missing that skill with Paul, Curry, Lillard, Wall and Westbrook sitting out.

Either way the U.S. will have an abundance of talent and are huge favorites to win gold once again.
