Stephen Curry

The NBA MVP voting results were released for the 2015-16 season today and now the two-time MVP Steph Curry has made history as the 1st NBA player to ever win the award unanimously with no other player registering a 1st place vote.

Curry is the 1st player in the 61 year history of the award to accomplish the feat.

Here is how the top 5 turned out for the MVP voting in 2015-16:

A bit surprising to some as many people assumed that Westbrook would have finished 2nd in MVP balloting with his ability to fill the stat sheet at historic levels this season.

Curry becomes just the 3rd athlete in a major professional sport to achieve the feat of being a unanimous MVP in a given season, joining Wayne Gretzky and Tom Brady. Both of which are quite possibly the greatest players to ever play their sport.

Curry’s season was truly magical by any measure and he added to his legend with his record breaking performance in overtime Monday night scoring 17 points to lead the Warriors to a 132-125 victory and a 3-1 series lead over the Blazers.

Here is a video breaking down all of the unique and record-breaking achievements this year that led to him being the NBA’s first ever unanimous MVP.

There is one way for Curry to cap off one of the greatest seasons in professional sports history, and that is with a second straight NBA title and his first ever NBA Finals MVP award, I wouldn’t expect anything else.
