Wizards’ Markieff Morris Investigated at Airport for ‘Suspected Marijuana’ Possession

Markieff Morris is once again making headlines for the wrong reasons.

According to Comcast SportsNet Philadelphia’s John Gonzalez, the Washington Wizards forward was detained at Philadelphia International Airport after ‘suspected marijuana’ was apparently uncovered in his bag:

Here’s Gonzalez with more details:

Morris, who was with a party that included his mother, checked a bag for an international trip when “a suspicious item” was found in his suitcase, according to law enforcement.

A secondary search of his bag revealed what law enforcement officials called “suspected marijuana.” Terminal A at Philadelphia International is overseen by Tinicum Township Police in Delaware County, not by the Philadelphia Police Department. Philadelphia airport security notified Tinicum Township Police. Morris was then taken to the Tinicum Township Police precinct for questioning. He was later released on his own recognizance.

A Tinicum Township police spokesman said the investigation is ongoing.

Markieff Morris was dealt to the Wizards at the February trade deadline after falling out of favor with the Phoenix Suns. He has played five seasons in the NBA thus far and just wrapped up the first part of a four-year extension that runs through the 2018-19 campaign. His brother, Marcus Morris, once a teammate with the Suns, now plays for the Detroit Pistons.

We’ll let you know if any other details come in on the matter. For now, though, it looks like Morris has found himself immersed in some more unnecessary drama.
