Mahmoud Abdul-Rauf, huh PJ? Older, former NBA players don’t seem to be breaking their necks to rush and give the Warriors credit for their brand of basketball. Oscar Robertson basically called every coach incompetent because they keep allowing Steph Curry to shoot 3s. Also, during the playoffs last year, both Phil Jackson and Charles Barkley warned against jump-shooting teams.

Apparently, Jackson still isn’t sold on their brand of ball because he decided to comment on Steph Curry, who was the talk of the weekend after his game-winning 3 at OKC. Here’s what Jackson had to say on Twitter:

That is so short and cryptic that it is opened up for interpretation, and that’s what people did. It came across as Jackson comparing Mahmoud Abdul-Rauf to Steph Curry. That didn’t go over well as Jackson was soundly criticized. Sensing this, he tried to backpedal.

On the surface, the comparison has no credibility because today’s young basketball fans have never heard of Mahmoud Abdul-Rauf. But in his defense, he was a very talented offensive player. Here are some of his highlights in case you’re unfamiliar.
