NBA Fans To Watch Match Up of Teams With Highest Combined Winning Percentage Ever

NBA Spurs-Warriors

Monday night will truly be a special one for basketball fans as we will have the opportunity to watch the two best teams in the NBA, having two of the greatest seasons in NBA history duke it out for the first time.

The 38-6 San Antonio Spurs will travel to Oakland to play the 40-4 Golden State Warriors in an epic match up.

After combing through some of the best teams and seasons in NBA history, I have discovered that no regular season game this far into a season has ever featured a higher combined winning percentage between two teams.

The Warriors at 40-4, currently have an incredible winning percentage of 91 percent while the 38-6 Spurs have a winning percentage of 84 percent. That is an incredible combined winning percentage average of 88.6% between the two teams.

Here are the two closest regular season average combined winning percentages in one game this late in a season in NBA history:

-1971-72 Lakers and Bucks had a combined average winning percentage of 80 percent, as the 65-12 Lakers defeated the 59-19 Bucks 123-107 on March 14, 1972.

-2008-09 Lakers and Cavaliers had a combined winning percentage of 80 percent, as the 41-9 Lakers defeated the 39-10 Cavaliers 101-91 on February 8, 2009.

So take some time to watch two all time great teams play one another tonight and appreciate the history that you are watching.
