Draymond Green Joins Incredible Company With 3rd Straight Triple-Double

Draymond Green
Draymond Green is on fire.

During the Golden State Warriors’ 111-101 victory over the Charlotte Hornets on Monday night, Green notched yet another triple-double, this time going for 13 points, 15 rebounds and 10 assists. It was the eighth triple-double of his young NBA career, and his third in the last three games.

In case you wondering, yes, that’s super hard to do.

In fact, here’s the list of every player since 1985-86 who has recorded three consecutive triple-doubles at least once, courtesy of Basketball-Reference:

Fat Lever
Magic Johnson
Michael Jordan
Grant Hill
Jason Kidd
LeBron James
Russell Westbrook
Draymond Green

Um, yeah. That’s pretty freaking incredible.

LeBron and Westbrook, perennial MVP candidates, are the only other active players on this list. That’s the kind of season Green is having.

There’s also this:

Should Green’s current numbers hold, he will be the first player in NBA history to close the season out while simultaneously averaging at least a 14.5 rebounding percentage, 29.5 assist percentage, 1.5 steal percentage and 2.5 block percentage.

Again, freaking incredible.

Green is about as well-rounded as modern-day NBA players come, and most of the time, his numbers don’t even do his impact, his rising star, enough justice. This could even be one of those times. It’s not enough to talk about his triple-doubles and all-around box-score rates. He does everything for the Warriors, and their pace and space and positionless style of domination wouldn’t exist without him.

Moral of the story: Draymond, good.
