When the Pistons dealt Brandon Knight for Brandon Jennings, the latter was thought to be the PG of the future for Detroit. But then, Jennings went down with a torn Achilles and the team acquired another PG, Reggie Jackson. While Jennings is still recovering, Jackson was just signed to a surprising 5-year, $80 million deal. Not sure what exactly this means for Jennings.

The Pistons and restricted free agent point guard Reggie Jackson agreed on a five-year, $80 million deal Sunday night, a team source said.

The deal was first reported by Yahoo Sports.

Final negotiations were hammered out by Pistons president Stan Van Gundy, general manager Jeff Bower and Jackson’s agent, Aaron Mintz. Van Gundy was in town to watch his summer league team play in the Orlando Summer League. Jackson attended Pistons games Saturday and Sunday afternoon.
