Scott Brooks: ‘Westbrook is the best point guard in the NBA’

westbrooksuxNalOklahoma City Thunder head coach Scott Brooks has been having a great run in the city, having been able to appear in the conference finals three times in four seasons. These achievements would not have been possible without his best players—and one of them is named Russell Westbrook.

During the team’s media day, Brooks made a bold statement by bestowing upon Westbrook the title of the NBA’s best point guard.

I believe Russell is the best point guard in basketball,” Brooks said, unprompted. “That’s happened over time. I’ve seen Russell every practice, every game, every film session, and he’s really put a lot of time into being the best point guard in basketball.

Honestly, this isn’t actually not that farfetched knowing how dominant Westbrook has been for the past couple of seasons. And in the recent playoffs, he posted a sizzling average of 26.7 points, 7.3 rebounds, and 8.1 assists in 19 games.

Still at a very young age of 25—the Thunder point guard still has a huge amount of years to improve his game and solidify himself as a Hall-of-Famer in the future. But as of now, he still needs to do more until we can rightfully crown him the title of being the ‘best PG out there’.

The likes of Chris Paul, Stephen Curry, and former MVP Derrick Rose are all certainly in contention for that very title. It’s almost impossible to select from these names on who will come out at the top of the long list. All these point guards have their own respective accolades to contend with—it’s all going to be a matter of who can earn the most rings.

And so far, none of them have a title on their resume.

Who’s going to get his first?
