J.J. Barea To Be Waived by Wolves; Looking for Spot With Mavs

barea0It appears J.J. Barea’s days in Minnesota might be numbered. Even though he is only two years into four year contract with the Wolves, they apparently want him out so bad they are willing to buy him out to waive him from the roster according to ESPN…

This isn’t a huge shock for anyone, as the Wolves have been trying to offload Barea for a while, up to and including trying to package him up in trade talks with Kevin Love this summer. Barea parlayed being a key piece of the 2011 championship Mavericks squad into a decent deal in Minnesota. The problem is he never lived up to the hype of 2011. But that doesn’t mean Barea and possibly Cuban wouldn’t want to try and recreate the magic….

We’ve been down this road a year ago, have we not? Why would we get a different result? This time there is an added roadblock in that the Mavericks would actually have to proactively free up a roster spot to allow for Barea to be signed. However, this summer the Mavs have made some moves to bring Tyson Chandler back to the team, another former member of the 2011 championship squad. Could we be seeing a trend?

Regardless of how this shakes out for Barea, we can’t feel sorry for Barea, or any guy who gets to go home to a wife like this…#AmIRight
