Lakers to Shut Down Kobe For the Remainder of the Season

kb24Being the competitor that he is, you know that Kobe Bryant would like to play some more this year, even if it’s the final 5 games on a season going absolutely nowhere. But because of his age and nagging injuries, the Lakers are going to officially shut him down according to Yahoo.

This makes sense. No use at this point. It’s best if all parties just reset and start over next season. But what will the roster look like and who will be coaching?

Los Angeles Lakers guard Kobe Bryant wanted to continue his attempt to play again season, but was convinced by the team it would be better for his health if he not return, league source told Yahoo Sports.

Bleacher Report first reported Bryant will not return this season because the fracture of the lateral tibial plateau in his left knee has been slow to heal. The Lakers are expected to officially announce the decision as soon as Wednesday.

Bryant has not played since Dec. 17. If the Lakers (22-42) still had hopes of reaching the Western Conference playoffs, Bryant would have more greatly resisted the decision to sit out the final month of the season, a source said.
