Cavaliers to Retire Zydrunas Ilgauskas’ Jersey

Quietly, Zydrunas Ilguaskas was one of the more productive players in Cavs history. Because LeBron took over the team in 2003, we forget that Big Z played many years in Cleveland. Because of his size, he slowed down considerably as he got older and was barely able to see the floor due to injuries.

The Cavaliers will honor Z by retiring his number this season. This makes perfect sense.

The Cavaliers announced Monday that longtime center Zydrunas Ilgauskas will have his No. 11 jersey retired by the franchise. The ceremony will take place At Quicken Loans Arena during a Mar. 8 game against the Knicks.

“I am happy and humbled by this great honor,” Ilgauskas said in a statement. “Cleveland and the Cavaliers have been such a huge part of my life and it will be a very special and proud day for me and my family. I want to thank the Cavaliers and fans alike because I have been very fortunate to play here, work here and call Cleveland home.”
