Reebok Kamikaze II Mid – ‘Kentucky’ Inspired By Shawn Kemp’s Short Time As Wildcat

Later on this month, Reebok brings back the Kamikaze II of Shawn Kemp fame in a colorway inspired by the University of Kentucky school colors.

After signing a letter-of-intent with the University of Kentucky, Shawn Kemp couldn’t play in his freshman year of college since he didn’t get the minimum score requirement on the SAT which was 700 at the time due to the Proposition 48 in the NCAA. After being accused of pawning two chains (!) made of gold in November of 1988, Kemp transvered to Trinity Valley Community College in Texas only to not play there either. He turned 19 that same month he switched schools and declaired himself eligible for the 1989 NBA Draft where the Seattle SuperSonics took him as the 17th overall pick.

The ‘Kentucky’ colorway of the Reebok Kamikaze II Mid drops on August 16th for $100.
