Cavs Reach Out to Phil Jackson, Mike Brown About Coaching Vacancy

The day after the NBA season ended, the Cleveland Cavaliers fired coach Byron Scott. Towards the end of the season, there were rumors swirling that there was a rift between star point guard Kyrie Irving and Scott. Whenever there’s a perceived issue between the star player and the head coach, the coach is the one sacrificed. It happens without fail. We can’t that’s exactly what happened but it’s something to consider.

The Cavs aren’t wasting anytime in their search for their next coach as they have reached out to both Phil Jackson and former Cavs coach Mike Brown.

According to WKYC.com,

Cavs owner Dan Gilbert will meet with Mike Brown tonight about the head coaching vacancy.

Mike Brown seems to be the Cavs number one choice to replace Byron Scott who was fired on Thursday morning.

And according to ESPN.com,

The Cavs, who fired coach Byron Scott last Thursday, have been in touch with Jackson to gauge his interest in returning to coaching and in their open position.

In all of this, the more likely scenario is that Brown returns. I can’t see Phil Jackson going to Cleveland.
