Darko Milicic Signing With Boston Celtics

As most teams are starting to firm up a few more signings for their training camp rosters, the Boston Celtics are putting the final touches on a contract to sign a player many consider to be one of the biggest NBA Draft busts of all-time. Darko Milicic was waived by the Minnesota Timberwolves this summer using their amnesty clause.

A league source confirmed to CSNNE.com that Milicic, the No. 2 overall pick in the 2003 NBA draft, will sign a one-year deal with the Celtics next week for the veteran’s minimum.

The signing of Milicic will give the C’s 14 guaranteed contracts heading into training camp which begins Sept. 29.

Milicic had a rocky start to his career, but after the media flurry faded Milicic started a slow but steady climb from bottom dwelling to NBA mediocrity. And now as he seems sure to start the descend back to bottom dwelling, the Boston Celtics figure you can’t teach size and are therefore bringing him to training camp. It’s one of those moves that could either prove to be genius, or silly in a couple months time.

Does Darko having anything left in the tank?
