Reporter Disses President Bush To Interview Carmelo

September 21, 2011 – Allen Moll

Although Carmelo Anthony has yet to be a member of the NY Knicks for a full season, he’s proven to be a media savvy athlete and true ambassador of the game of basketball. That’s why I have no doubt that his move from Denver to the Big Apple will work out fine and possibly put the Knicks back among the elite teams in the Eastern Conference.

Fresh off tying the knot with model/former BET VJ LaLa Vasquez this Summer, Melo was in town to take part in the BGC Global Charity Day, held annually in New York City to honor the more than 900 employees they lost and to continue to help families still in need of relief efforts from the devastating 9/11 attacks.

Fox News reporters were also on hand, supposedly attempting to get an exclusive interview with former President George W. Bush, who was addressing workers and families that survived the attacks. Surely Fox News had several informative questions aimed at getting the former Commander in Chief’s comments on the terrorist attacks now that it is 10 years later.

That was until the reporter bumped into Knicks star Carmelo Anthony. Melo was just about to make a trade of $260 million offshore dollars when the female reporter apparently forgot about the former President and appeared star-struck with the opportunity to interview Melo instead.

Anthony was his usually smooth self while the reporter and various workers made cameos, all trying to get on camera with the Knickerbockers newest star. Immediately after Carmelo wandered away, the reporter suddenly regained her composure and began ranting about finding President Bush.

Of course it’s all in good fun, and the event is for an amazingly great cause, but it’s funny to me that on a day that will be remembered in US history, a reporter on hand seemed more enamored with a basketball player than the President of the United States, who made life-altering decisions on that fateful day.
