Young Boy Dies After Fall at Laker’s Game

Going to a professional sports game as a child is such a magical feeling. If you are lucky enough to be watching the game from way up in one of the luxury suites you must feel extra special. Well last night’s Lakers win over the Warriors was marred by tragedy as a young toddler, fell to his death from one of the box suites at the Staples center while trying to take some end of game pictures for a souvenir….

A toddler has died after falling 15 meters (50 feet) from a luxury suite during the Los Angeles Lakers NBA game against the Golden State Warriors in the Staples Center arena.

Police Sgt. Frank Alvelais says the boy, believed to be 2 or 3 years old, was taken to Los Angeles County-USC Medical Center, where he died. The boy’s name hasn’t been released.

The boy fell from the third level top tier of the luxury suites several minutes after the Lakers beat the Warriors 117-89 on Sunday night.

KTLA-TV says it’s believed the child was taking pictures when he plunged to the concrete floor.

Witnesses told the LA Times the boy was moving his arms and legs when he was placed on a stretcher. He was taken to USC Medical Center, where he died, Sgt. Frank Alvelais said. This is just horrible news to hear about. What a tragedy.
