Syracuse’s Kris Joseph Takes On Women’s Tennis Team

October 8, 2010 – Allen Moll

Canadian born Kris Joseph is poised to be one of the stand-out stars for not only coach Boeheim’s Syracuse Orange basketball team but in the entire Big East Conference. He should take over most of theteam’s  scoring duties for last year’s leading scorer Wes Johnson, who is gone from the program, now playing for the NBA’s Minnesota Timberwolves.

In fact, after averaging 10.8 ppg and 5.5 rebounds as a 6th man off the bench last season, many experts project that Joseph’s numbers could jump towards near double-double status with starters minutes this year. Combine that with a super-athletic skill-set and he may wind up leaving upstate New York following his junior season to test his name in NBA Draft circles.

But judging by this video shot for a local upstate NY newspaper, Kris had better stick to basketball, especially since the female Orangemen tennis team gave him a lesson in humility that he will surely never forget. Despite towering over the mostly 5 foot female athletes, and outweighing them by more than 50 pounds, the men’s hoop star tried to show off his athleticism on the tennis court, but instead drew laughter and snickers from his female competitors.  Watch as on his first attempt at a volley, he completely misses the ball with his racket as the serve nails him squarely in the……..uh……….family jewels!
