Kevin McHale Is Afraid of Dominique Wilkins’ Crotch

February 3, 2010 – Allen Moll

Hall of Famer and Celtics legend, Kevin McHale, has made a seemingly easy transition from player, to General Manager and coach, to now announcer for both TNT and NBA TV. While he sometimes appears stiff, once one of the other analysts gets him to open up, he unveils some pretty personal humorous moments from his playing days.

Kevin gave us one of those funny moments when he and Chris Webber were discussing their first meeting with “The Human Highlight Film,” Dominique Wilkins on NBA TV’s Gametime show.

Host Ernie Johnson tossed the topic first to C-Webb, who gave a glowing bit about how much of an honor it was to meet Dominique and how gracious he was to Chris, even shaking his hand in their first meeting.

Then it was McHale’s turn. In a nonchalant fashion, Kevin told a story of when the Celtics first played Wilkins’ Hawks in his Dominique’s rookie season. Larry Bird was having some trouble guarding the high flying rookie as McHale was regularly asked to provide some help defense on drives to the basket.

Kevin explained that most of what he saw of Wilkins was his crotch going past him on dunk attempts,………….and what he saw scared him.
